My name is Paulina Torres, and I am a senior at Rowe-Clark Math and Science Academy! I am in Mr. Mendralla's 2nd Period Astrophysics Class. This week, the week of February 13th, we learned all about the Sun and Einstein's Equation! We learned that the Sun has existed for about half of its "lifetime," 10 billion years. In addition, we pondered on the question, "Why does the Sun shine?" We came to find out that it is because of NUCLEAR FUSION. During this process, mass is LOST so that energy can be GAINED. sunlayers.jpg

This week we played a video game Quantum Spectre in order to better understand lasers reflecting. While it was difficult to play at first, with time it actually became fun. Instead of blindly placing mirrors anywhere in order to win, I got to a point where I was able to strategize before placing the mirrors down. It helped me understand where lasers will reflect to.

We also learned about the Law of Reflection this week. We learned that a normal line is an imaginary line always perpendicular to the surface. In addition, the reflected ray and incident ray must always be equal to each other.
